The Top 8 performed on AMERICAN IDOL last night and gave FOX the nightly victory among Adults 18-49, Total Viewers, Adults 18-34, Adults 25-54 and Teens.  FOX beat its nearest competitor for the night (CBS) by +68% in Adults 18-49 and by +50% in Total Viewers.

AMERICAN IDOL has now led FOX to win 12 consecutive Wednesdays among both Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers.

 

  • AMERICAN IDOL:4.7/14, down -6% from last week’s preliminary fast national (5.0)
    • IDOL but will likely go up one or two tenths in the finals (as it has the last few weeks)
    • IDOL was the highest rated program of the night in Adults 18-49, Total Viewers, Adults 18-34, Adults 25-54 and Teens and out-rated the #2 program of the night by +57% in Adults 18-49 (vs. Criminal Minds), +88% among Adults 18-34 (3.2 vs. 1.7 for Happy Endings) and +40% in Total Viewers (16.7 vs. 11.9 Mil for CSI).

AMERICAN IDOL has now beat Monday’s telecast of The Voice for the fourth week in a row among Adults 18-49 (+15%) and in Total Viewers (+55%).

Competition
Following repeats of The Middle (1.0/3), Suburgatory (1.2/3), and Modern Family (1.8/5), the season finale of ABC’s Happy Endings posted a season-low 1.6/4 at 9:30pm, down -16% from last week (1.9/5). A repeat of new drama Missing followed with a 1.0/3 at 10p.

CBS’ Survivor: One World (2.7/8) posted the show’s lowest original rating ever (excluding clip shows), down -7% from last week (2.9/9). Criminal Minds posted a 3.0/8 at 9pm (down -6% from two weeks ago), while CSI posted a 2.9/8 at 10p (+12% from two weeks ago).

On NBC, the time period premiere of Betty White’s Off Their Rockers (1.8/6) dropped -31% from its special preview on Mon 1/16/12 (2.6/6). The series premiere of Best Friends Forever posted a 1.2/3, down -48% from the debut of previous time slot occupant Are You There Chelsea (2.3/6 on 1/11/12). New comedy Bent closed its six-episode season with back-to-back originals at 9pm and 930pm, (0.9/2 and 0.7/2). Rock Center with Brian Williams (0.8/2) closed out the night even with last week.
