Twenty-nine Clear Channel stations nationwide held local radiothons on February 11-12 raising $2,792,094 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, one of the world’s premier centers for the research and treatment of pediatric cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Despite challenging economic times, the amount raised exceeds the total raised by these stations last year by 11%.

“Radio listeners have loyally supported St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital since we began radiothon fundraising more than 30 years ago,” said Richard C. Shadyac Jr., CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising organization of St. Jude. “We are so thankful to these Clear Channel stations for sharing two days of their programming and talent to help raise funds so St. Jude can continue its groundbreaking research and lifesaving care to benefit children in communities everywhere.”

Participating stations included KCCY (Colorado Springs, Colo.), KHEY (El Paso, Texas), KHLR (Little Rock, Ark.), KKIX (Fayetteville, Ark.), KMAG (Fort Smith, Ark.), KOLT (Cheyenne, Wyo.), KSSN (Little Rock, Ark.), KTEX (Harlingen, Texas), KTOM (Monterey/Salinas, Calif.), KTPI (Lancaster, Calif.), KYKR (Beaumont, Texas), WAGH (Columbus, Ga.), WAMZ (Louisville, Ky.), WBUL (Lexington, Ky.), WCOL (Columbus, Ohio), WCTQ (Sarasota, Fla.), WDXB (Birmingham, Ala.), WGSY (Columbus, Ga.), WLLR (Quad Cities, Iowa), WNCO (Ashland, Ohio), WPAP (Panama City, Fla.), WQRB (Eau Claire, Wis.), WSIX (Nashville, Tenn.), WSSL (Greenville, S.C.), WSTH (Columbus, Ga.), WTNT (Tallahassee, Fla.), WTQR (Greensboro, N.C.), WUSY (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and WYYD (Lynchburg, Va.).
