937TheRockFollowing the move of its Sports Talk “Mile High Sports” from 1510 AM to 94.1 FM last week, Hunt Broadcasting has launched the Variety Hits “93.7 The Rock” K229BS Loveland, CO/KCKK-AM 1510 simulcast in Littleton, CO. The FM is 99 watts @ 716 ft. HAAT.

NRC Broadcasting’s KCKK was recently purchased by Hunt Broadcasting. Janice Hunt, president, told The Denver Post the station will simulcast on the AM and FM signals as well as streaming on 937therock.com.

The format features “the greatest songs of the rock decades, from the 1960s through today.”

KCKK had aired the Denver Nuggets basketball team, Colorado Avalanche hockey team, Colorado Mammoth and Colorado Rapids.

Chuck Buell, a longtime radio fixture formerly of WLS and KIMN Radio and dating to the beginning of the “rock decades,” will be the afternoon driver.

Denver radio veterans “Jim & Woody” will handle morning drive. Denver native D.J. McCoy, who has worked for ABC Radio, will host mid-days.

In December, KCKK 1510 AM and its translator on 93.7 FM were sold to Hunt for a reported $1.6 million.

Mile High president James Merilatt told the paper he had been leasing 93.7 FM and 1510 AM under an LMA. The 94.1 FM outlet out of Golden, CO also will be operated under an LMA with Cedar Cove Broadcasting in Loveland.

  1. I came across you this week. You were talking about all the KIND emails you received from other stations like MIX 100.

I enjoy your station and am telling others. Too much repetition on other stations which makes yours refreshing.

  2. I love the music – haven’t heard some of this for ages! Keep it up. Now, some contact information so I can request a song or two.

  3. I decided to give this station a week . I did and it is terrible . The morning show guys should have been fired after three days . Friday they made not one but two gaffs about the late and great Mary Travers . Followed by a stupid insensitive remark about the Malaysian airlines crash . There is a reason this music is not heard anywhere else . No one wants to hear this garbage . I had high hopes when I heard about this new station . It is perhaps the worst I have ever heard . I have no idea where they dig up this obscure nonsense they call music . Once every five or six songs they will come up with an old gem by a group like Chicago . The bulk of these tunes I do not know who the artist is or the song .
I have ventured into the second shift only to find the adolescent attempt at humor continues . Don’t get me wrong . These are probably all very nice people but they have no business being on a radio show . I figure a week of this foolishness is enough . I will continue my search for intelligent life on the airwaves . I mean how hard can this be ???

  4. Whew!!!! Thank you for going on the air! I accidentally ran across it a couple of days ago, and kept it there. I punched in both the AM & FM channels. Thank you so much for having a REAL VARIETY of songs! I am so sick of either the same OLD, OLD Rock & Roll stations playing a few hits over and over ad nauseum and then overdoing the current hits also. Other stations only have “new” hits which have been playing for over 3 years. Thank you!!! I’m telling lots of people. Also, it’s nice to hear the 2 morning DJs and their banter.
