A Station Deal Straight Off The Vine


An AM/FM combo in the heart of Northern California’s Wine Country has been dealt from one local operator to another.

A 1kw AM goes for a big price in the Lone Star State’s Capital.

Those are the deals in detail in RBR + TVBR’s TRANSACTIONS TODAY for Friday, April 14.

Wine Country Broadcasting Co. is selling KVON-AM 1440, a Class B News/Talker in Napa, Calif., with a directional two-pattern signal, and Class A KVYN-FM 99.3 in St. Helena, Calif.

KVON broadcasts with 5kw during daylight hours from four towers, and with 1kw at night from three towers. KVYN is a 6kw facility airing a “Sauvignon Rock” blend of 1980s hits and Adult Contemporary artists.

The buyer is Wine Down Media, and it is paying $425,000 for the pair.

An escrow deposit of $21,250 has been made by the buyer to Exline Company, the escrow agent and broker in this deal. A $15,000 promissory note is also being executed by the buyer to handle the total balance due.

The seller’s legal counsel was David Tillotson, Esq., of Washington, D.C.

The buyer’s legal counsel was Michael Couzens of Oakland, Calif.



  • Genuine Austin Radio is selling Class C 1kw KTAE-AM 1490 in Austin, Tex., to Township Media for $750,000. A 10% escrow deposit has been made with the seller’s agent, Dan J. Alpert. There is no broker involved in this transaction.
