ABCOverall: During the week of 7/2/12, ABC delivered 4 of the Top 20 most-watched television shows overall:  The Bachelorette – #8, 20/20 – #13, Secret Millionaire – #17 and Wipeout-THURS – #19.  Finishing #3 for the week in Adults 18-49, ABC’s The Bachelorette landed among the Top 10 TV shows for the 3rd week running.  In addition, The Bachelorette registered as the #1 television program overall across all key Women (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54) and the top-rated unscripted show with Adults 18-34.  ABC’s 20/20 stood as the week’s #1 newsmagazine with key Adults (A18-49/A25-54).


Monday: Featuring The Bachelorette and The Glass House, ABC continued to stand as Monday’s 2nd-most-watched network overall to NBC (Olympic Trials overrun/America’s Got Talent), topping Fox’s unscripted originals by 7% (Hell’s Kitchen/MasterChef).  For the 3rd week running, ABC finished #1 on the evening with key Women demos (W18-34/W18-49).  Surging 11% week to week in Adults 18-49, the Net posted a summer high on the night with its top number in 6 weeks – best since 5/21/12.  Growing week to week, ABC’s The Bachelorette ranked #1 in its slot with Adults 18-34 (3rd straight week).  In addition, for the 7th consecutive week, the ABC unscripted program led its time period across all key Women demos (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54), while registering as Monday’s #1 TV show for the 4th week running on all three measures.  Up week to week in Adults 18-49 (+9%) and Adults 18-34 (+5%), The Bachelorette scored best-since-premiere ratings on both measures – 7-week highs, since 5/14/12. Opposite the final hour of NBC’s America’s Got Talent, ABC’s The Glass House once again ran #2 against its network rivals with Adults 18-49 and all key Women (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54).

Thursday: From 8-9pm, ABC’s Duets outdrew its unscripted competition by a wide margin, topping Fox’s Take Me Out by 1.7 million viewers. Building for its 3rd straight telecast (+12%), Duets attracted its largest audience in 1 month – since 6/7/12.  Jumping over its lead-in by 80% at 9pm, ABC’s Wipeout led the pack for the 2nd week in a row in Adults 18-49, beating Fox’s The Choice in the hour by 13% and more than quadrupling NBC’s Saving Hope (+350%). The broad-appealing ABC unscripted series stood as Thursday’s #1 broadcast program for the 2nd week running with Teens 12-17 and Kids 2-11. From 10-11pm, ABC’s Rookie Blue ranked #1 versus its net rivals in the hour with Adults 18-49, outdelivering NBC’s first-run Rock Center with Brian Williams by 44%.  Rookie Blue grew week to week in Total Viewers (+9%) and Adults 18-49 (+18%).  In addition, the ABC drama hit a season-high with Men 18-49.

Friday: Driven by big turnouts for two hours of 20/20, ABC stood as the most-watched television network on Friday evening.  Dominating its competitors in Adults 18-49, ABC beat out NBC by 50%, CBS by 50% and Fox by 140%. The Net produced its biggest Friday audience this summer with regular programming on the night. During the 8 o’clock hour, ABC’s replay Shark Tank defeated its rivals with Adults 18-49, outdelivering CBS’ replay Undercover Boss by 22%.  From 9-10pm, the first hour of ABC’s 20/20 led its time slot and registered as Friday’s 2nd-most-watched telecast, behind only its lead-out 20/20 at 10pm.  ABC’s encore 20/20 dominated NBC’s original Dateline in the hour by 2.3 million viewers, by 50% in Adults 18-49 and by 45% in Adults 25-54. In its regular 10 o’clock time period, ABC’s 20/20 won the hour to qualify as Friday’s most-watched TV program overall.  Head to head in the time slot, ABC’s repeat 20/20 outperformed the second hour of NBC’s Dateline by 1.1 million viewers, by 8% in Adults 18-49 and by 6% in Adults 25-54.  The ABC newsmagazine turned in its most-watched telecast in more than 3 months – since 3/30/12.

Sunday: ABC won Sunday night in Adults 18-49, leading Fox by 8%, NBC by 40% and CBS by 100%. The Net equaled its strongest Sunday this summer with regular programming on the evening.  During the 7 o’clock hour, ABC’s repeat America’s Funniest Home Videos ran a strong second among Adults 18-49 to NBC’s original Dateline. Building sharply on its lead-in (+50%) to hit a season-high, ABC’s Secret Millionaire finished #1 in the 8 o’clock hour among Adults 18-49. Jumping by double-digits week to week in viewers (+14%) and young adults (+25%), ABC’s Secret Millionaire drew its biggest audience in over 1 month (since 6/3/12) and equaled a season-best in Adults 18-49. From 9-11pm, ABC’s EM: Weight Loss Edition once again grew during each half-hour of its broadcast, surging by 1.1 million viewers and 29% in Adults 18-49 from start to finish.  In fact, the ABC unscripted series ranked #1 during its second hour from 10-11pm with Total Viewers and Adults 18-49.  Like its lead-in, ABC’s EM: Weight Loss Edition built over the prior week by strong margins in Total Viewers (+13%) and Adults 18-49 (+25%), matching a season-high on the latter measure.
