ABC News' "Nightline" bests 'Letterman' 15 weeks in a row

ABC News’ “Nightline” is in first place for the full season to date, with 3.78 million Total Viewers, outperforming CBS’ “Late Show with David Letterman” and NBC’s “Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” according to Nielsen Media Research. “Nightline” has also outperformed “Letterman” in Total Viewers for the 15th consecutive week. The last time this happened was in 1999. For the week of July 19, 2010, “Nightline” ranked second among A25-54, A18-49 and Total Viewers.


Compared to the same week last year, “Nightline” grew +21% among Adults 25-54, while “Letterman” decreased -2%. Among A18-49, “Nightline” increased +16% year to year, while “The Tonight Show” declined -9%. “Nightline” also grew +6% among Total Viewers, while “Letterman” decreased -4%.

ABC News’ “Nightline” is anchored by Cynthia McFadden, Terry Moran and Martin Bashir. John Donvan and Vicki Mabrey are correspondents. James Goldston is the executive producer. The program airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m., ET on the ABC Television Network.
