Alaska Communications Systems Group, with AOR MDC-Partners’ Vitro announced the launch of a new campaign, defining the company as the leading communications provider in Alaska and beyond. The effort follows extensive market research providing insight into customer preferences and competitive differentiation in the markets in which ACS operates – wireless and enterprise data. The campaign includes:

A new brand name. Alaska Communications Systems will change its brand name to Alaska Communications, recognizing the importance of communication in today’s world. The company will continue to trade under the ticker symbol ALSK and register as Alaska Communications Systems Group.

A new logo. The company is introducing a new logo inspired by the North Star — an Alaska icon symbolizing leadership, discovery and mobility. Taking a cue from the effect of light trails around the North Star, circles in the logo create a lowercase “A” for Alaska and “C” for Communications.

A new advertising campaign. A broad communications campaign spanning television, radio, print, out-of-home, digital and social media will reach both consumers and businesses in and out of Alaska.

“This campaign reflects the advanced data and wireless networks we’ve built to support the explosive growth in and demand for data and mobility, and to connect Alaskans and Alaska businesses to the rest of the world. The comprehensive campaign tightly aligns both our wireless and enterprise lines of business under a common theme,” said Liane Pelletier, Alaska Communications president and chief executive officer.

Other MDC clients include ASICS, Kyocera, Cobra Golf, Newcastle Brown Ale, Intel, P.F. Chang’s, Life Technologies, Bollé and Serengeti.
