“Alter-Native” Radio launches

Double Grammy winning DJ/Producer Native Wayne Jobson has a new nationally-syndicated Rock-Reggae radio show dubbed “Alter-Native” (via Talent Farm)


The two-hour show consists of Native Wayne hosting, interviewing and playing rock-reggae music by a variety of well-known artists including The Police, The Clash, Sublime, Bob Marley, 311, Slightly Stoopid, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Specials, No Doubt, The English Beat, The Wailing Souls, Pepper, Damian Marley, Ben Harper, Elvis Costello, Madness and more.
 
Native Wayne has been one of the leading figures in reggae music for over 20 years. As a producer he has worked with Gwen Stefani and No Doubt (with whom he won two Grammys), Long Beach Dub All Stars, Toots and the Maytals, Keith Richards & Dave Stewart. As a musician he has played with such artists as 311, Jimmy Cliff and Willie Nelson. As a remixer he has worked with Gavin Rossdale (Bush), Jason Mraz and the Doors. As a songwriter he has worked with, Jimmy Buffett and Willie Nelson, Sugar Ray and Black Uhuru’s Junior Reid. As a filmmaker, Wayne was nominated for a Canadian Academy Award for his film on reggae legend Peter Tosh.
 
From 1991-1998, Native Wayne hosted KROQ/LA’s Reggae Revolution and the show consistently rated #1 in its daypart. Wayne was also Music Director for MTVs Sonicnet and consultant to Napster for their rock reggae.
 
One of Native Wayne’s greatest achievements was helping to set up XM Satellite Radio’s Reggae channel-“The Joint”. Wayne left XM in 2004 to bring his Reggae ‘Smoke-In’ show back to SoCal with Indie 103.1 FM now www.indie1031.com which Rolling Stone voted as Best Radio Station in America. His live broadcasts from the beach attracted such guests as Ben Harper, Ziggy Marley, Adam Sandler, Pink ,Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters), Dave Stewart and many more. Furthermore, these broadcasts generated revenue and recognition for Indie 103.1 as Southern California’s only commercial reggae music radio show.
