An ‘Optimum’ Situation For Disney and Altice USA

“We have reached an agreement in principle and have extended the deadline accordingly to try and finalize the terms.”

That was the statement posted by The Walt Disney Co.‘s ABC network flagship station, WABC-7 in New York, at 5:46pm Eastern on Sunday (10/1), alleviating fears that WABC — along with Disney pay-TV offerings such as Disney Channel, ESPN, Freeform and Disney XD — would be removed from Altice USA‘s Optimum systems serving Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester Counties in New York.

Neither Disney nor Altice USA offered further comment on the matter.

The retransmission fee agreement between Disney and Optimum expired at the end of the day Sept. 30.

As noted by Reuters, ESPN charges an average of $7.54 per subscriber each month, according to S&P/Kagan Global Market Intelligence.
