Apple has denied rumors its thinking about phasing out its paid download business.
But consultant Sean Ross says radio should think about going down this road to get new revenue.
Like vinyl, downloads will be a good business for somebody, he notes, saying radio already has relationships with music labels.
The streaming of broadcast signals is a not insignificant attraction, but it has leveled off, according to Ross in a post to the Radio & Internet Newsletter site.
“In a world where Pandora offers podcasts and Apple wants to replicate broadcast radio with Beats 1, why should broadcasters not offer one-stop-shopping, literally?”
