Arizona FM DIY deal gets to the finish line

According to brokerage Kalil and Co., JJS Media has closed on its acquisition of KCKO-FM CP in Rio Rico AZ. When built, the station will serve an unrated portion of the state south of Tucson and not far from the Mexican border.


The buyer is headed by Martha Patricia Ponce and Jamie Juaristi. The seller is Cochise Media, headed by Ted Tucker Sr.

The station, a Class A on 107.9 MHz with 1 kW @ 659’, is fetching a pricetag of $465K cash. The deal was accepted for filing by the FCC 10/4/12.

Ted Tucker Sr. acquired the station a couple years back pursuant to a contract dated 9/24/10. The seller was Skywest Media LLC, headed by Ted Tucker Jr., and the terms were 100% debt forgiveness tied to a promissory note with a face value of $354K.
