Baby FM opens Sussex market for Clear Channel FM recall

The Sussex NJ Arbitron market lives in the shadow of the Big Apple, and as such had only five stations licensed to it, forcing Clear Channel to spin an FM into its Aloha Station Trust parking garage. Then along came WDNJ-FM to the rescue.

The new FM, recently built by Youngshine Media, is licensed to Hopatcong NJ, and is a member in good standing of the Sussex Arbitron market. It brought the total number of stations attributed to the market to six, just enough to justify a cluster with three same-service stations.

And it means that Clear Channel can reel back in Hot AC WHCY-FM Blairstown, giving Aloha trustee Jeanette Tully one less station to care for and/or try to sell.

The station rejoins a cluster that also includes Soft Rock WSUS-FM Franklin NJ and Rock WNNJ-FM Newton NJ.
