You read that headline correctly. Stocks had traded sharply lower on Tuesday, with fears continuing about the economic problems in Europe. But comments by House Banking Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-MA) that conferees may agree on a relatively mild financial regulation bill gave a boost to bank stocks, cut the losses for many other stocks and gave the market a mixed close. The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished down 23 points, or 0.2%, at 10,044. The S&P 500 was up a bit and the Nasdaq Composite down. Broadcasting stocks finished lower.
The RBR Radio Index was down 1.526, or 0.4%, at 387.120.
The TVBR Television Index was down 3.195, or 1.7%, at 188.696.
