A key executive at Univision Communications who has served as the interim CEO of the millennial-focused Fusion multi-platform network has hit the gas and driven over to the Hispanic media company’s biggest rival — NBCUniversal’s Telemundo unit.

Effective immediately, Beau Ferrari will serve as EVP of NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, reporting directly to Chairman Cesar Conde.

Ferrari will remain in the greater Miami area, where he has served as EVP/Corporate Strategy and Development for Univision since January 2016. Before that, Ferrari served as EVP/Operations at Univision, where he was responsible for managing the growth and profitability of the company’s content offerings across its entertainment, news, sports and cable platforms.

Ferrari’s tenure at Univision includes roles as not only interim CEO but also as the GM of Fusion. He’s also been the interim co-head of Univision Sports, and chief of staff/special assistant to the CEO. In that role, Ferrari helped manage operations, strategic initiatives and personnel across networks, local television and radio assets, as well as interactive and mobile platforms.

Ferrari has a financial background, and before joining Univision Communications served as the co-founder and partner of private equity investment and management firm Royal Palm Capital Partners.

He began his career as an investment banker with Morgan Stanley & Co. in New York.

In his new role, Ferrari will oversee finance, operations, corporate strategy and development, and will support the company’s business units, including the broadcast and cable networks, digital, sports division, news division, international distribution groups, and corporate functions. He will also partner across NBCUniversal’s platforms to identify new opportunities in the marketplace, Telemundo notes.

“I am thrilled that Beau is joining our company at this extraordinary moment in our business,” Conde said. “He is a seasoned executive with a wide range of operating, strategic and financial skills who brings a wealth of experience and deep industry relationships to our company. His unique combination of traditional and digital media experience across multiple businesses will be a great addition to our leadership team and will further position our organization as an industry leader.”

Ferrari added, “I am excited to join a world-class company that has consistently demonstrated its commitment to win. With the support of the senior leadership at Comcast NBCUniversal, I look forward to the opportunity to work closely with Cesar and the senior leadership across the company to help build on their successes into the future.”

Ferrari is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
