‘BONES’ delivers but FOX without ‘Idol’ finished third Thursday

On a night on which all networks suffered major declines, FOX continued to remain very competitive with BONES and FRINGE, ranking No. 3 among Adults 18-49, No. 2 among Adults 18-34 and No. 1 among Men 18-34.


At 8p BONES posted a 2.4/8 among Adults 18-49 and ranked No. 2 in the hour among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34, No. 3 in Teens and No. 1 in Men 18-34. BONES was down -29% compared to its most recent telecast on 2/4/10. In head to head competition in the 8p hour , BONES outperformed ABC’s Flash Forward by +71% among Adults 18-49.

FRINGE at 9p delivered a 2.2/7 among Adults 18-49 and ranked No. 3 in the hour among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Teens. Compared to its last telecast on 2/4/10, FRINGE was down -19% (vs. 2.7/7), but down only -8% compared to its prior season average with originals (vs. 2.4/6).
BONES and FRINGE were the only dramas on broadcast television that did not hit season/series lows last night.

Competition
ABC’s Flash Forward (1.4/5) and Grey’s Anatomy (3.5/10) both posted their lowest original ratings ever, falling -22% and -5% from their last originals and a whopping -48% and -30% from their prior season averages with first-run episodes , respectively. Private Practice (2.7/8) matched its lowest original Thursday rating ever at 10p, down -7% from last week and -21% from its prior season average.

On CBS, Survivor: Heroes & Villains (3.5/12) delivered its lowest Thursday rating of the spring, falling -13% from its prior average (4.0/11). Switching time periods for the night, The Mentalist (2.8/8) and CSI (2.8/8) both delivered their lowest original ratings ever, falling -18% and -15% from their last original and down -20% and -22% from their prior original averages this season (3.5/10 and 3.6/9).

Following hour-long repeats of The Office at 8p (1.6/6) and 9p (1.8/5), week six of NBC’s The Marriage Ref (2.2/7) delivered its lowest rating to date, down -12% from last week and -24% from its prior average on the night (2.9/8).
