Come next Wednesday, Jessica Rosenworcel and Brendan Carr will be one step closer to getting new offices at The Portals.

The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee late Wednesday confirmed that it will hold an executive session on Aug. 2 at 10am that includes the nomination and reappointment of FCC Chairman Ajit Pai and Democratic Commissioner Rosenworcel.

Also on the official markup for the Aug. 2 hearing is the nomination of Carr, and the nomination of David Redl for the position of Asst. Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information.

In this role, Redl would serve as head of the National Telecommunications & Information Administration (NTIA).

The approval of Pai, Rosenworcel, and Carr is expected to come with little or no objection; Rosenworcel and Carr each had nomination hearings on July 19.

The next step would be a vote on their nominations by the full U.S. Senate. This could come prior to its August recess.

Also on the docket:  S. 1621, a bill to require the FCC to establish a methodology for the collection of information about commercial mobile service and commercial mobile data service, sponsored by Republican Sen. Roger Wicker (Miss.) and Democrat Joe Manchin (W. Va.)

Wednesday’s hearing will take place in Hart 206, on the north side of Capitol Hill.
