It’s a story that just keeps getting stranger…and sadder.
While Casey Kasem was incapacitated by dementia in the latter stages of his life, his family fought an ongoing battle over where he should receive care, and who should be able to visit him. During that time the whole affair became a running soap opera. But when the radio legend passed away on June 15, the weirdness headed for the stratosphere.
TMZ is reporting that Kasem’s body, which is still not interred and is in a funeral home in Montreal, is headed for Europe (possibly Oslo, Norway) at the behest of his wife Jean – whom you may remember as the tall, dimwitted blonde from the party scene in “Ghostbusters.” Needless to say, the Kasem kids are reported to be up in arms over this latest development, with radio personality Kerri Kasem leading the charge.
Danny Deraney, a publicist for Kerri Kasem, told The Associated Press in an email Tuesday that Kasem’s children are discussing their next steps with authorities.
Meanwhile, the Santa Monica PD wants a full autopsy … which so far has not been performed. Casey’s kids believe Jean is on the run because she knows if the family finds the body and gets a court order it could be incriminating for her.
Kasem, the radio host of “American Top 40,” died June 15 at a hospital in Gig Harbor, Washington. He was 82.
