Why Media General-Nexstar deal may not be dead.

In yesterday’s AM report, we noted a small LPTV deal between Gray Television and DTV America.

This time the DMA is San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose, where OTA Broadcasting is expanding its holdings in the television space with the acquisition of KAXT-CD....

A pair of deals involving Hearst Television's big ABC affiliate serving most of New Mexico have been signed off by President Jordan Wertlieb. The transactions will see the company part ways with a TV translator serving Farmington, N. Mex., while grabbing another TV translator serving one of the most picturesque locales in the Rocky Mountains.

Saga Communications is mainly known as a radio group, and will be even more so as it sells off its WXVT-TV in the Greenville-Greenwood...

In a transaction that saw Kalil & Co. as the exclusive broker, a CBS affiliate serving Meridian, Miss., is being spun. The new owner is headed by Dr. Michael Hogan.

In December 2016, a broadcast TV company led by Louis Wall agreed to acquire a low-power television construction permit in Lake Charles, La., for $80,000, from DTV America Corp. Today, that facility at Channel 19 is a MeTV network affiliate under the calls KWWE-LD. Now, SagamoreHill is getting another construction permit in the Louisiana market.

It has the ability to reach 140,000 TV households in Citrus County and portions of Hernando, Sumter, Marion and Levy Counties in Central Florida. It has coverage on Channel 16 on Comcast and Bright House Network systems in this region of the Sunshine State. Soon, it will be the property of Christian Television Corp., bringing a new era to this hyperlocal television facility.

With the last broadcast transaction of the year the broadcast deal volume for 2020 passed the $1 billion line, closing with a total of $1.02 billion. That's an 87% drop from 2019, Volker Mörbitz of S&P Global Market Intelligence notes, clearly highlighting the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is, however, a volume 27% higher than that of 2010.
