Charlie Tuna swims, adds markets

Charlie TunaBlack Card Radio’s Charlie Tuna continues to grow with additions and changes in several markets. Charlie recently joined Classic Hits WNDR “The Dinosaur” Weekdays 7p-midnight, with his 70s Weekend Show airing Sunday nights in Syracuse.


Tuna was also added at “Foxy” WFXY Knoxville 3p-7p weekdays, with the 70s Weekend Show running Sundays 7p-12a. “We were looking for talent that would enhance our classic hits/personality concept format, ”says OM/Owner Frank Smith. “Since Charlie is a legend in radio, it was a perfect fit for us. Since day one of Charlie hitting the airwaves we have seen an increase of calls to the station and more traffic online.”

Charlie Tuna has also been moved to mornings on KDES, Palm Springs, CA.

He made the leap from nights to mornings on KPKL-FM KOOL 107.1, Spokane WA. “When I had the opportunity to put my friend Charlie Tuna on the KOOL 107.1FM Morning Show in Spokane, I jumped at the chance! I already knew how hard Charlie works to put on a great morning show from our days at 93KHJ together!” says Bob Fogal, Owner, KPKL-FM Spokane.

Additionally, the Charlie Tuna Show has joined WWCB Erie, PA from 9a-1pm weekdays, and taking over afternoon drive 3p-7p in four new markets with Whiplash’s KXCT Goodland KS, KTTE Springfield, CO, WOPC Linden TN and WMAK Lobelville, TN.  Chris Lash, President Whiplash Community Radio says; “It’s more than great to have Charlie Tuna on our stations…it’s an honor to have one of the great air talents doing afternoons for us.”
