QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum two year professional anchoring experience. Three to five years proven general reporting experience. Proven ability to convey a show image to targeted demo viewers. College degree in related field preferred. Ability to communicate effectively on-air (tape or live). Excellent journalistic skills and editorial judgment. Ability to work well under pressure while meeting strong deadlines. Ability to work well as a team, as well as independently. Ability to handle stressful situations and adapt well to change as necessary to develop the story. Computer and accurate typing skills. Exceptional communication skills, creativity, and detailed knowledge of field production and demos.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Anchor one or more newscasts and accept general reporting assignments. Other duties include providing story narration on or off camera. Write or rewrite news stories provided by wire services or similar outside sources. Contribute initiative concepts and ideas on a regular basis. Represent the station at various community events. Provide general assistance in the preparation of station newscasts. Participate as needed on in-studio interviews. Develop and maintain contact with news sources. Propose ideas for hard news stories, follow-ups, features and mini documentaries. Other duties as assigned.
