WWLP-TV22, (NBC), has a full-time opening for a News Producer. Applicant will gather and contribute story ideas from various sources, monitor police/fire scanners, answer incoming calls to newsroom, take coverage requests from callers, assign crews (reporters/photographers) to cover stories, coordinate live and satellite live shots, communicate with news crews, write stories for air, proofread and edit scripts, coordinate writing/editing and timing of newscast, copy/sort scripts (when needed), cue anchors/reporters during live shots, brief morning producer on stories/developments, supervise interns, update internet web site. Must be able to assist reporters, photographers and editors. Must be detail-oriented, thorough, accurate, and possess good writing skills. Ability to work as a team player a must.

WGAL has an immediate opening for an assignment editor. The successful candidate must be willing to work a variety of shifts including nights and weekends. Three to five years journalism experience and experience writing and creating content for the web is preferred.
Duties:
The successful candidate will work our assignment manager to develop and organize potential news stories. They will also work with producers to coordinate the effort of field crews. The next assignment editor will write and post stories on wgal.com and other digital platforms.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
The successful candidate will be familiar with local newsgathering technology and terminology. Organization and the ability to handle information in a high pressure environment are crucial.

This hybrid position requires someone able to generate original, daily story ideas, write in a contemporary but conversational style, produce packages, shoot and edit video using professional electronic field production equipment, a proven track record managing breaking news and weather events and the ability to lift and carry equipment in excess of 20 pounds.
We are looking for a strong communicator who meets deadlines, and works well in high pressure situations.
