The New York Times reports that Bloomberg has appointed Claudia Milne, a veteran news producer for the BBC, as its new head of live television in the United States. Milne had formerly overseen elements of the BBC’s coverage in the U.S. She started in her new position Monday.

“Claudia knows global news as well as anyone in our business and has the highest standards and expectations,” said Josh Tyrangiel, who has been charged with overseeing Bloomberg’s TV operations, part of a plan to revamp its entire media operation.

The appointment comes just days after the company announced layoffs in its television operations, with a focus on its Washington offices. Its rethought television operation, which includes a show helmed by the political journalists John Heilemann and Mark Halperin, will be based in New York.
