Comcast Gets Third Extension On WYCI Fight

Comcast‘s cable TV subsidiary has been granted a rare third extension by the FCC to gather the information necessary forĀ “a full and accurate reply” to the owner of an Upstate New York TV station the media giant doesn’t want to be forced to add to its systems in the Burlington, VT-Plattsburgh, NY DMA.

Comcast now has until Nov. 9 to defend a cable special relief petition (CSR) filed with the FCC in August, which would have allowed the company’s cable operation in the market to become exempt from a pending market modification of the station to Burlington-Plattsburgh. Such action would make the station a “must carry,” and the station’s owner is putting up a fight for coverage.
