“Dateline” grows 18% week to week

DatelineFriday Primetime Results: At 8 p.m. ET, “Who Do You Think You Are?” averaged a 0.9/4 in 18-49 and 4.9 million viewers overall. At 9 p.m. ET, “Grimm” captured a 1.3/4 in 18-49 and 4.7 million viewers overall and is #2 or tied for #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in the time slot in most key demographics.  “Grimm” built on its lead-in by 44 percent in 18-49 rating.  Note that “Grimm” originals have been adding 65 percent to these next-day “live plus same day” ratings when Nielsen issues “live plus seven day” results.


At 10 p.m. ET, “Dateline NBC” (1.3/4 in 18-49, 5.0 million viewers overall) is up week to week by 18 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.3 rating from a 1.1), up 29 percent in adults 25-54 (1.8 vs. 1.4) and up 23 in total viewers (5.025 million vs. 4.102 million).  “Dateline” grew from its first half-hour to its second in all key ratings categories, including gains of 17 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.4 rating from a 1.2), 19 percent in adults 25-54 (1.9 vs. 1.6) and 17 percent in total viewers (5.4 million vs. 4.6 million).

In late-night metered-market households Friday night:

In Nielsen’s 56 metered markets, household results were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 2.7/7; CBS’s “Late Show with David Letterman,” 2.5/6; and ABC’s combo of “Nightline,” 2.9/7; and “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” 1.5/4. 

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 0.8/4; “Late Show,” 0.5/2; “Nightline,” 0.9/4; and “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” 0.5/3.

At 12:35 a.m., “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” (1.5/4 in metered-market households) beat CBS’s “Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” (1.3/4).  In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, “Late Night” (0.6/3 in 18-49) topped “Late Late Show” (0.4/2).

At 1:35 a.m., “Last Call with Carson Daly” averaged a 0.9/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
