'Dateline NBC' holds #2 in 18-49 and #1 among adults 18-34

From 8-9 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of “America’s Got Talent” (1.3 rating, 4 share in adults 18-49, 4.7 million viewers overall) matched NBC’s highest 18-49 rating in the time period since June 7.


From 9-10 p.m. ET, “Last Comic Standing” (1.7/5 in adults 18-49, 4.5 million viewers overall) is up versus the prior week by 6 percent in 18-49 (1.7 vs. 1.6) and 12 percent in total viewers (4.465 million vs. 3.983 million).  In the time period, “Last Comic Standing” is #1 among the major networks in men 18-34 and #2 among adults 18-34, men 18-34 and men 25-54 (pending updates).

At 10 p.m. ET, “Dateline NBC” (1.7/6 in adults 18-49, 5.5 million viewers overall) reported NBC’s highest 18-49 rating in the time period in three weeks (since July 5) and its biggest overall audience in the hour in eight weeks (since May 31).  In the time period, “Dateline NBC” is #2 among the major networks in adults 18-49 and #1 among adults 18-34.

From its first half-hour to its second, “Dateline NBC” grew by 27 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.9 from a 1.5) and by 24 percent or nearly 1.2 million persons overall in total viewers (to 6.0 million from 4.9 million), while the other major networks experienced declines in both categories.  “Dateline” won the 10:30 half-hour in adults 18-34, adults 18-49, adults 25-54, total viewers and other key categories.

In the 10:30 lead-in to local news, “Dateline NBC” generated a 14 percent margin of victory in the key news demo of adults 25-54 (2.4 vs. 2.1 each for ABC and CBS), erasing a 37 margin the prior half-hour for ABC’s encore “20/20” special (2.6 vs. “Dateline’s” 1.9 in the 10-10:30 half-hour).
