“Dateline” ties for #1 from 10-11

NBCFriday Primetime Results: From 9-11 p.m. ET, “Dateline NBC” (1.0/4 in 18-49, 4.0 million viewers overall) ranked #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in the time period in adults 18-49 and 25-54.  From its first half-hour to its fourth, “Dateline” grew by 86 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.3 rating from a 0.7), by 70 percent in adults 25-54 (1.7 vs. 1.0) and by 78 percent or more than 2.2 million persons in total viewers (5.1 million vs. 2.9 million).


For its second hour form 10-11 p.m. ET, “Dateline NBC” tied for #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49 (1.2 rating each for ABC and NBC) and adults 25-54 (1.6 rating each).

In the 10:30 lead-in to local news, “Dateline NBC” delivered a 6 percent margin of victory in the key news demo of adults 25-54 (with a 1.7 rating vs. a 1.6 for ABC’s second-place “20/20”).  “Dateline” also led at 10:30 in adults 18-49 and all key adult-male categories.

At 8 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of “Whitney” averaged a 0.5/2 in 18-49 and 2.1 million viewers overall.  At 8:30, a rebroadcast of “Community” delivered a 0.4/2 in 18-49 and 1.2 million viewers overall.

In late-night metered-market households Friday night:

In Nielsen’s 56 metered markets, household results were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 2.5/6 with an encore telecast; CBS’s “Late Show with David Letterman,” 2.1/5 with an encore; and ABC’s combo of “Nightline,” 3.2/7; and “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” 1.5/4 with an encore.

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 0.8/4 with an encore; “Late Show,” 0.5/2 with an encore; “Nightline,” 1.0/4; and “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” 0.5/2 with an encore.

At 12:35 a.m., “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” (1.2/4 in metered-market households with an encore) beat CBS’s “Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” (1.0/3 with an encore).  In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, “Late Night” (0.5/3 in 18-49 with an encore) topped “Late Late Show” (0.3/2 with an encore).

At 1:35 a.m., “Last Call with Carson Daly” averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
