Dish, News-Press, Gazette Avert Blackout for Now

Dish NetworkDish and News-Press & Gazette Broadcasting have extended their carriage agreement for a short-term, avoiding a black-out for now of 16 local stations in the satcaster’s lineup.


The old agreement was set to expire on Tuesday. But Mark Danielson, general manager of the broadcaster’s stations in California, posted a message on Twitter saying that the pact had been extended until 4 p.m., Pacific Time, Thursday. “[News-Press & Gazette] continues to negotiate with Dish Network,” Danielson tweeted.

The stations are located in such mid-sized markets as Palm Springs, California; Bend, Oregon, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Colorado Springs, Colorado; El Paso, Texas; Santa Barbara, California; Columbia, Missouri and Yuma, Arizona.
