Disappointing results from Verizon and The Travelers Companies weighed on the Dow, which closed 44.12 points, or 0.3%, lower at 16,414.44. The S&P 500 finished the day up 5.10 points, or 0.3%, to 1,843.80, breaking a two-day losing streak.
The RBR Radio Index was down 3.390, or .4%, to 906.545.
The TVBR Television Index was down 11.482, or 1.4%, to 786.850.
