EMF buys trouble Youngstown station

The FCC finally cleared away the last objection to the sale out of bankruptcy of WRBP-FM Hubbard OH, and with that matter cleared up, a new transaction has already been filed with the FCC.

The station serves the Youngstown OH market with a Class A signal on 101.9 MHz, packing the old Class A standard parameters of 3 kW @ 328’.

The seller is Bernard Ohio LLC, headed by Daniel B. Zwirn. It filed to acquire the station some time ago from Stop 26-Riverbend Debtor-in-Possession some time ago, a sale that was disputed by Percy Squire Company and Frank Halfacre. Only days before this filing the FCC denied one last attempt by Squire and Halfacre to block the transfer to Bernard.

Educational Media Foundation, which offers noncommercial the Contemporary Christian K-LOVE network to the US, is the buyer. It’s headed by Mike Novak.

It will pay $500K for the station.
