Kicking off Hispanic Heritage month, Entravision Communications hosted its annual Fiestas Patrias Celebration to commemorate Mexican independence on 9/12 at the Civic Center Park in Denver.  Entravision offered special sponsorship packages for advertisers which included stage naming rights, vehicle display areas, vendor booths, and TV and radio spots. Sponsors of the event included Budweiser, McDonald’s and King Soopers.

“This year’s Fiestas Patrias was truly symbolic of how far the Latino community has come.  It was amazing to see more than 80,000 people come out to celebrate Mexican Independence and Latino culture in America,” said Mario Carrera, VP/GM for Entravision’s Colorado markets. “We couldn’t have put this event together without the generosity of our sponsors or the dedicated work of our Entravision team in Denver, and want to thank everyone for their efforts.”

More than 80,000 people attended the event, which included food, dancing and cultural activities.  Also featured were performances by popular Latino musical act Lupillo Rivera. The Grito de Dolores ceremony, also known as the “Battle Cry of Independence,” led by Denver’s Consul General of Mexico was another core element of the event.
