G.Gordon Liddy and Al Franken merging shows today
The G-Man and Al Franken will square off in a joint hour of radio today at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington DC. The Noon-1:00 p.m. EST broadcast in front of a live audience will be carried by over 150 affiliates from both programs as well as Sirius and XM Satellite Radio, and on the Internet at www.radioamerica.org. The overlapping hour of the two programs makes this unique broadcast possible.
FCC shuts down pirate radio station
The FCC has shut down a pirate radio station operating in Bossier City, LA. The Spanish language FM was operating on 88.3 mHz from a small church. FCC investigator Walt Gernen took field measurements this week and paid a visit to the church's pastor informing him it was time to shut it down. Gernen says the pastor was very cooperative and claimed that he didn't know he needed FCC approval to operate the station.
NRRC elects Barry Feldman, Dr. Tom Evans to Chair, Vice Chair
The Network Radio Research Council (NRRC) has announced that Barry Feldman, Executive Director, Marketing Research for American Urban Radio Networks, has been elected its Chair for a one-year term. In addition, Dr. Tom Evans, President, SVP/Research for ABC Radio Networks, has been elected Vice Chair.
The NRRC was formally created four years ago to promote valid, reliable and effective national radio audience measurement research. In that time, many forums have been hosted with Arbitron, Mediamark Research and Act 1 Systems to help improve the measurement, reporting, and tools available to national radio.
