Former TV reporter charged with wiretapping
Shea Ann DeJarnette, who now works for a government agency, has been charged in a North Carolina federal court with five counts of wiretapping while working as a reporter at Media General's WBTW-TV (Ch. 13, CBS) Florence, SC during 2001 and 2002 at the station's Lumberton, NC news bureau. According to a report posted on the website of WRAL-TV Raleigh, DeJarnette allegedly bugged a phone in the Lumberton newsroom and was fired after a manager discovered it. She could face a maximum of 25 years in prison and more than a million dollars in fines if convicted on all counts.
Preston to receive NABEF honor
Recently retired BMI President & CEO Francis Preston will receive the Guardian Award from the NAB Education Foundation at the 7th annual Service to America Summit June 13th in Washington, DC.
