Retailers expand support for HD Digital Radio with campaigns

Beginning today, Mickey Shorr will launch a marketing and advertising campaign devoted to HD Digital Radio, while ABC Warehouse will be expanding on its current HD Radio campaign, the HD Digital Radio Alliance announced today.

Mickey Shorr's program will include custom made commercials running on 12 Alliance member radio stations, Spanish-language versions of marketing and advertising, in-store and online instruction to assist customers, staff training and in-store and POP marketing, similar to those launched last month by Tweeter and Crutchfield.

Through ABC Warehouse's expansion, the retailer will offer customers exclusive discounts on JVC HD Radio units through coupon offers and special promos on Kenwood HD Radio Tuners. Additionally, the retailer will be creating sports packages with the Detroit Tigers baseball team and using direct mail to promotion HD Digital Radio.

LA electronics retailer Ken Crane will offer HD Digital Radio products in its stores and launch online and print advertising campaigns beginning today. Like for Detroit, Ken Crane's HD Digital Radio campaign will also consist of custom-made commercials running on 13 Alliance member stations, Spanish-language versions of marketing and advertising, in-store and online instruction to assist customers, extensive staff training and in-store and POP marketing.

Ken Crane's campaign will feature print and on-air promotions, including advertising with the LA Times as well as on AM and FM radio. The campaign will highlight the Boston Acoustics Recepter Radio HD's availability in Ken Crane stores.

Tri-state area (NYC metro) retailers Harvey and Electronics Expo plan to offer HD Digital Radios in their stores and will launch aggressive marketing campaigns online and in print beginning today. Harvey's HD Digital Radio campaign will include local ads in the weekly New York Times Magazine and local AM radio. The company will also be marketing through its online services.

Electronics Expo will use print, online and direct mail as part of its campaign. The retailer will also be spotlighting HD Digital Radio during store grand openings and will conduct special HD Digital Radio contests through their radio spots. Electronics Expo has five locations in New Jersey: Paramus, Wayne, Woodbridge, Raritan and Succasunna.
