Clear Channel Pittsburgh announced that its Fox Sports Pittsburgh AM 970 (WBGG) will become the new home of ESPN Radio, as ESPN Radio 970, on 1/1. ESPN had recently announced it was shutting down its O&O in Pittsburgh on 1250 (WEAE) to become Radio Disney.

The new ESPN Radio 970 will present ESPN Radio Network’s Mike and Mike in the Morning (6-10 a.m. ET) with Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic, and The Scott Van Pelt Show (2-4 p.m.) with the host and Ryen Russillo.

ESPN 970 will continue to present Pittsburgh’s own Joe Bendel Show, with the former Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Steelers and Pitt beat writer, and In The Locker Room with Tunch and Wolf featuring former Steelers Tunch Illkin and Craig Wolfley.

The station is also the AM home of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and West Virginia football and basketball, as well as the syndicated Jim Rome Show (noon-2 p.m. M-F).
