RBR + TVBR EXECUTIVE UPDATE

  • CBS Radio takes another step toward independence from CBS Corp. by appointing Fred Bennett its new VP/GM, Traffic Operations and Partnerships. He takes his new role on Nov. 21. A new position for CBS Radio, Bennett is tasked with building an in-house traffic content and sales operation to serve all radio stations. Additionally, Bennett will be working to create a content-specific group – composed of reporters and editors – that will create comprehensive local traffic reports to air on CBS Radio stations and their accompanying online properties. A dedicated sales team will focus on selling sponsorships within and around the traffic reports to regional and local advertisers.
Bennett will also oversee CBS Radio’s relationship with Radiate Media, its incoming traffic content partner set to supply customized data and also sell national sponsorships within traffic reports. The deal with Radiate Media is scheduled to commence on April 1, 2017, when its longtime contract with iHeartMedia’s Total Traffic & Weather Network expires.
Bennett was formerly President and Chief Revenue Officer of WKXW-FM “New Jersey 101.5” in Trenton, N.J. Before that, he was the chief business development officer for Jelli.

  • Salem Media Group has promoted the Director of Sales for its Dallas cluster, Jeff Mitchell, to GM for its stations in the Metroplex. Mitchell held his previous role for 6 ½ years and his 25-year career includes stints at CBS Radio and Clear Channel. He reports to Salem SVP Linnae Young and replaces John Peroyea, who resigned as VP/Operations and Dallas market VP/GM in September.
