Ideas for clients in tough times

Some sales and maybe money saving ideas in these troubled times.  I don’t know if I’d passed this one along here, but if you carry sports, there’s time in the station ID for a quick sponsorship…i.e.. W_ _ _, town, and every game day is 25% off to go subs, at Fred’s across from Mudtown Mall…etc…It would be good for some one who wants to be on play by play coverage but may not have a budget to go full tilt.

Here is a fun one with a paying client that we are getting ready for (“Fixing to do”-in Southern terms.): Listeners, email us, as what they have done to make their spouse, girlfriend, wife (but probably not both) mad, and why they are in the “doghouse”.   The best one wins a floral arrangement delivered by our client…can be weekly, daily, monthly, whatever they want to do.

Winter and bad weather are on the way.  That means school and work place closings, delays etc.  Propose to one client, they become the sponsor of all of these, for just a mention for, say a hundred bucks a day,  it goes something like this, “This closing and delay report brought to you by Fred’s bank*, with five locations in anytown..”…  The same could go for election returns, although you would probably want more than one client on those.

*Sub shop, bank, Fred is a busy dude.

I know and preach that one on one, in person meetings with clients and prospective clients is a must, but with the high cost of gas find use the phone as much as possible, and maybe route yourself where you can drop by and see them either on the way in or on your way home.  It may mean arriving at the station late, or leaving early, but when it results in a sale, the boss will not mind.
