As I thought today about what made Roy unique, I think it was this: He loved journalism, but he also loved the business of journalism. He was always looking for a new challenge, such as when he left the AP to go buy a local newspaper. O'Brien I remember once when Roy tossed me out of the AP hospitality suite at the Las Vegas Hilton one long ago NAB convention. He was mad because he had just read a very complimentary article about UPI in the latest issue of R&R! Glenn Serafin and Dick Krizman were able to smooth things over, and Roy and I laughed about it many times after that. He was a great guy, and I know that Glenn and Jim Williams are very sad today. Roy was one of a kind, and I really enjoyed his company, even years after he left the AP. RIP
