Fox’ preview ’The Good Guys’ w/ ‘American Idol’ captured Wednesday crown

With a special preview of THE GOOD GUYS and the AMERICAN IDOL Top 3 Results show, FOX dominated the night among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, Teens and Total Viewers, beating the next-highest rated network by +42% among Adults 18-49, +42% among Adults 18-34, +82% among Teens and +11% in Total viewers.


At 8p a special preview of THE GOOD GUYS posted a 1.5/5 and drew a sampling of 5 million Total Viewers in its first outing prior to its official launch on Mondays at 9pm this summer. THE GOOD GUYS ranked third among Adults 18-49, second among Adults 18-34 and won among Men 18-34 in its time period.

At 9p the Final Three results show of AMERICAN IDOL posted a 5.9/16 among Adults 18-49, down -11% from last week’s results show in the adult demo but up +10% among Teens. 

AMERICAN IDOL won the 9p hour among Adults 18-49, Total Viewers, Adults 18-34, Teens and all key demos and showed advantages over its nearest competitors of +69% among Adults 18-49, +45% among Adults 18-34, +162% among Teens and +41% in Total Viewers.

AMERICAN IDOL’s Tue/Wed average this week outperformed ABC’s Dancing With The Stars Mon/Tue average by +80% among Adults 18-49 (6.3/17 vs. 3.5/10) and +11% in Total Viewers (18.6 vs. 16.7 Mil.) 

So far this season, AMERICAN IDOL’s Most Current ratings vs. the comparable Most Current weeks last year show 91% retention among Adults 18-49, 91% among Adults 18-34, 92% among Teens and 92% in Total Viewers.

Competition
ABC ran a repeat of The Middle (1.4/5) at 8p followed by the season finales of The Middle (2.5/8), Modern Family (4.2/12) and Cougar Town (2.8/8), which were all in line with their performances last week.  A special Primetime: What Would You Do posted a 2.0/6 at 10p.

On CBS, the special I Get That A Lot delivered a 2.0/7, down -31% from its last telecast on 1/6/10.  Criminal Minds (3.3/9) and CSI: NY (2.5/7) were down -3% and flat week over week, respectively.

NBC aired repeats of Minute To Win It (1.5/5) and Law & Order: SVU (1.2/3).  At 10p, the season finale of Law & Order: SVU posted a 2.6/8, down -7% from last week.
