FOX rolls Wednesday w/ ‘American Idol’ and ‘Human Target’

Week to of AMERICAN IDOL-WED and the series premiere of HUMAN TARGET together gave FOX a win for the night across all demos, dominating the next-highest rated network (CBS) by +100% among Adults 18-49, 150% in Adults 18-34, +275% among Teens and +56% in Total Viewers.


AMERICAN IDOL:
Last night’s AMERICAN IDOL-WED posted a 9.8/27 among Adults 18-49, on par with Tuesday’s telecast as well as last year’s Wednesday week 2 telecast on 1/21/09 (9.8/25).  AMERICAN IDOL was up +1% compared to Tuesday’s telecast and up +3% compared to last year’s Wednesday’s week 2 telecast in Total Viewers.

Last night’s AMERICAN IDOL outperformed the combined 4-net competition in the 8p hour by a substantial +72% among Adults 18-49 (9.8 vs. 5.7 for ABC/CBS/NBC/CW), +107% among Adults 18-34 (8.7 vs. 4.2), +200% in Teens (7.2 vs. 2.4) and +42% in Total Viewers (26.7 vs. 18.8 Mil.)

AMERICAN IDOL won the 8p hour among Adults 18-49, Total Viewers, Adults 18-34, Adults 25-54, Teens and all key demos.

AMERICAN IDOL’s average so far this year with four telecasts is right in line with last year’s average, showing retention of 97% among Adults 18-49, 98% among Adults 18-34 and 98% in Total Viewers.

HUMAN TARGET:
At 9p the series premiere of HUMAN TARGET showed considerable growth versus its preview last Sunday, gaining +17% among Adults 18-49, +41% among Adults 18-34 and +3% in Total Viewers (10.4 vs. 10.1 Mil).

Competition
ABC ran repeats of Modern Family (1.6/5) and The Middle (1.7/4) followed by an original episode of Modern Family (4.1/11) that was up from last week, an original Cougar Town (3.4/9) and Ugly Betty (1.6/4).

CBS aired The New Adventures Of Old Christine (1.9/6), Gary Unmarried (1.9/5), Criminal Minds (4.3/11) and CSI: NY (3.7/10).

NBC’s Mercy (1.4/4) at 8p was down -7%, followed by a repeat Law & Order: SVU (1.4/4) at 9p and The Jay Leno Show (1.2/4), which was down -20% at 10pm.
