Fox ruled Wednesday with Idol

AMERICAN IDOL held last Wednesday’s rating (and will be up week over week by at least one tenth in the finals) and was the #1 program of the night among Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers. In addition, last night’s IDOL gained more than 1 million viewers versus last Thursday’s telecast.


Overall, FOX dominated the night among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, Teens and Total Viewers.  In fact, FOX outperformed its nearest competitors for the night by +45% in Adults 18-49 (4.5 vs. 3.1 for ABC) and +34% in Total Viewers (13.9 vs. 10.4 for CBS).

* AMERICAN IDOL: 6.0/17, even with last week and will be up in the finals. 
o Comparing last night to last week’s Fast Nationals AMERICAN IDOL is up +2% in Adults 18-49 (6.0 vs. 5.9), +4% in Total Viewers (18.9 vs. 18.2 Mil.) and +7% in Adults 18-34 (4.4 vs. 4.1).
o In Total Viewers, AMERICAN IDOL was up +22% versus last week (18.9 vs. 18.5 Mil).
o IDOL outperformed combined four-net competition in the 8p hour by +2% in Adults 18-49 (6.0 vs. 5.9 for ABC/CBS/NBC/CW).
o IDOL also beat the combined three-net competition by +15% in Adults 18-49 (6.0 vs. 5.2 for ABC/CBS/NBC) and +6% in Total Viewers (18.9 vs. 17.8 Mil for ABC/CBS/NBC).
o IDOL grew in its second half hour by +11% in Adults 18-49 (6.3 vs. 5.7) and +12% in Total Viewers (20.0 vs. 17.9 Mil.)

* MOBBED: 3.0/8, up +7% from last week and up +11% from last week in Total Viewers (8.8 vs. 7.9 Mil.)

Competition

ABC aired original episodes of The Middle (2.6/8, up +4%), Suburgatory (2.5/7, flat), Modern Family (5.5/14, up +8%), Happy Endings (3.0/7, up +3%), and Revenge (2.5/7, flat).

Following the CBS News interview special Person To Person (1.1/3), original episodes of Criminal Minds and CSI posted a 3.4/9 (down -8%) and 2.7/7 (down -21%), respectively.

NBC ran original episodes of Whitney and Are You There, Chelsea from 8-9p (1.5/4 each and both down -12%). At 9pm, the time period premiere of Rock Center with Brian Williams posted a 1.1/3) and Law & Order: SVU at 10p delivered a 2.2/6, up +22% from its last telecast.
