Fox wins Thursday with Idol power

American IdolAiring the AMERICAN IDOL Top 3 Results show, FOX won last night among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, Adults 25-54, and Teens, beating the No. 2 network by +20% among Adults 18-49 (3.0 vs. 2.5 for ABC).


FOX has now ranked #1 for 18 consecutive Thursdays among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, and Teens — every week AMERICAN IDOL has aired on Thursday this season.

·         AMERICAN IDOL: 4.2/14, up +8% from last week’s Fast National among Adults 18-49, and up +5% from last week’s Fast National in Total Viewers (15.8 vs. 15.1 Mil).

o    IDOL should go up at least one-tenth when Finals are released this afternoon

o    Last night’s IDOL posted its highest-rated Thursday in five weeks (since 4/12/12) and its highest number of Total Viewers on Thursday in seven weeks (since 3/29/12).

o    AMERICAN IDOL was once again the #1 program of the night among Adults 18-49, Total Viewers and Teens.

·         TOUCH: 1.8/5, down -5% from last week. TOUCH ranked #1 in its hour among Teens and placed third among Adults 18-49.

The season finales of ABC’s Missing (1.3/4), Grey’s Anatomy (3.9/11), and Scandal (2.4/7) were all up from last week (+18%, +11% and +26%, respectively)

Leading out of a Big Bang Theory repeat at 8pm (2.4/8), the season finale of CBS’ Rules of Engagement (2.1/7) posted its lowest original rating in over three years (since Wed 5/13/09), down -22% from last week (2.7/9). The season finales of Person Of Interest (2.5/7, down -4%) and The Mentalist (2.5/7, up +4%) were both on par with last week’s airings.

Surrounding the season finale of NBC’s 30 Rock at 8:30pm (1.3/4, down -13%) the three-part season finale of Community posted a 1.3/5 at 8pm and a 1.3/4 at 9pm and 9:30pm – down -7% from last week — all of them matching the show’s previous series low.  Closing out the night, Awake (0.7/2) matched its season low, down -22% from last week (0.9/3).
