FOX’s ‘American Idol’ placed 2nd behind Olympics; ‘Human Target’ also #2

Airing against particularly strong Olympics competition, FOX placed a dominant second last night across all key demos.


* At 8p HUMAN TARGET posted a 2.1/6 among Adults 18-49 and ranked No. 2 in the hour among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34  and Teens.

* At 9p, AMERICAN IDOL delivered a 6.9/17 among Adults 18-49 despite the massive competition. In fact, if you exclude the rest of this season’s IDOL telecasts, last night’s AMERICAN IDOL would be the No. 1-rated entertainment telecast of the season.

So far this season, AMERICAN IDOL’s average is on par with the same weeks last year, showing 94% retention among Adults 18-49, 94% among Adults 18-34, 97% among Teens and 95% in Total Viewers.

Competition
ABC ran repeats of Modern Family and The Middle from 8-9p (1.7/5 and 1.7/5) and 9-10p (1.7/4 and 1.2/3) followed by Cougar Town repeats from 10-11p (1.4/3 and 1.1/3).

CBS aired repeats of The New Adventures Of Old Christine (1.3/4), Gary Unmarried (1.4/4), Criminal Minds (1.9/5) and CSI: NY (2.0/5).

Night six of NBC’s Vancouver Olympics delivered an 8.9/23 from 8-11p, up from night six of the most recent Winter Games in Torino, Italy which posted a 6.0/15 on 2/15/06.  Through six nights, the Vancouver Games are outperforming the 2006 Games among Adults 18-49 (7.5/20 vs. 6.5/17) and Total Viewers (26.8 vs. 21.1 Mil).
