GM buys station in Arizona resort town

Marvin Vosper is described on the KBUX-FM website and the station’s general manager and LMA partner. But before too long, he’ll be able to update the second half of that description to owner.


KBUX-FM plays Classic Hits and Oldies from a Class A facility on 94.3 MHz, with 205 Watts and an HAAT of -161’. It’s licensed to Quartzsite, a town squarely in unrated territory on I-10 not far from Arizona’s border with California.

The seller is Maude J. Burdette, who is getting $230K for the station. Vosper is required to deposit $20K with her, and then will pay off the rest, plus 4% annual interest, via monthly payments of $700 until the account is settled.
KBUX says its city of license is a popular winter getaway. As such, it has a very broad target audience:
