'GMA' increases both adult 25-54 and total viewers Year-to-Year

“GMA” is the Only Morning Show to Increase Both Adult 25-54 and Total Viewers Year-to-Year;  “GMA” Cuts Both Demo and Total Viewing Gaps with NBC Week-to-Week and Year-to-Year – Smallest Demo Gap Since August 2009;“GMA” Extends Both Demo and Total Viewing Advantages Over CBS Year-to-Year and Demo Lead Week-to-Week.
 
For the week of June 21, ABC’s “Good Morning America” averaged 3.940 million Total Viewers and a 1.3/10 among Adults 25-54.


“GMA” was the only morning program to experience both Demo (+3%) and Total Viewer (+6%) growth year-to-year. “GMA” was also the only morning program to increase its Adult 25-54 audience week-to-week (+10,000). NBC’s “Today” and CBS’ “Early Show” declined week-to-week and year-to-year in both the Adult 25-54 Demo and in Total Viewers.
 
“GMA” continues to reduce “Today’s” Demo lead, shrinking the gap -17% week-to-week and
-31% year-to-year. “GMA” also shrank “Today’s” Total Viewing lead by -27% week-to-week and -55% year-to-year. This is the fifth straight week ABC has shrunk NBC’s weekly demo lead, and it’s the smallest gap between the two programs since August 2009.
 
 In addition, “GMA’s” Adult 25-54 Demo lead (710,000) over the “Early Show” was +20% larger year-to-year and +3% larger week-to-week. ABC expanded its Total Viewing advantage (1,640,000) over CBS by +21% year-to-year.
 
2nd Quarter 2010
 
For the just-completed 2nd Quarter, “GMA” averaged 4.27 million Total Viewers and a 1.4/10 among Adults 25-54. “GMA” was the only program to maintain its Total Viewing audience vs. 2nd Quarter 2009, while both “Today” and “Early Show” lost Total Viewers. “GMA” also closed the Total Viewing gap with “Today” by -30% vs. 2nd Quarter 2009, while increasing both the Total Viewing and Adult 25-54 gaps with “Early Show,” +19% and +4%, respectively.

 The Emmy Award-winning morning news program, featuring the anchor team of Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Sam Champion and Juju Chang, airs live Monday through Friday from 7:00-9:00 a.m., ET on the ABC Television Network. Jim Murphy is the senior executive producer and Tom Cibrowski is the executive producer of ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
