DirecTV subscribers will not lose the Hearst Broadcasting stations from their local-to-local satellite TV service. A deal was struck before the old contract was due to expire New Year’s Eve.

Hearst stations had been warning viewers that they might lose their local signals, while still expressing hope that the contract issues could be resolved. Indeed they were. Neither side offered any details of the agreement.

Hearst owns 29 television stations, including 13 ABC affiliates, 10 NBC affiliates and two CBS affiliates. In all, it reaches about 18% of US television households.
