‘Human Target’ strong opener for Fox’s ‘American Idol’ rock solid

With an original HUMAN TARGET followed by the AMERICAN IDOL Top 11 Results Show, FOX dominated across all demos last night, beating the next highest-rated competitor by 88% among Adults 18-49, +89% among Adults 18-34, +200% among Teens and 56% in Total Viewers.


HUMAN TARGET:
Airing against increased competition from a special Survivor on CBS, HUMAN TARGET posted a 2.0/6 among Adults 18-49, down -13% from last week in the adult demo.

AMERICAN IDOL:
The Top 11 Results on AMERICAN IDOL posted a 7.1/19 among Adults 18-49 and won its hour among Adults 18-49, Total Viewers, Adults 18-34, Teens and all key demos.  
 
Compared to last week’s results show, AMERICAN IDOL showed growth of +4% among Adults 18-49, +10% among Adults 18-34, +7% and +2% in Total Viewers.

AMERICAN IDOL tied the combined 4-net competition in the hour among Adults 18-49 and outperformed the next highest-rated network by +129% among Adults 18-49, +112% among Adults 18-34, +309% among Teens and +153% in Total Viewers.

So far this season (Most Current ratings vs. comparable Most Current), AMERICAN IDOL’s average is on par with the same weeks last year, showing 94% retention among Adults 18-49, 94% among Adults 18-34, 97% among Teens and 95% in Total Viewers.

Competition
Following a repeat Modern Family (1.8/6) at 8p, original episodes of ABC’s The Middle (2.4/7), Modern Family (3.6/10) and Cougar Town (2.6/7) were all in line with their recent performances.  Ugly Betty posted a 1.7/5 at 10p.

CBS aired a special Survivor: All Stars (3.3/11) – which was down -8% from its last original on Thursday, 3/11/10 – followed by repeats of Criminal Minds (2.1/6) and CSI: NY (1.7/5).

NBC’s Mercy (1.3/4) delivered its lowest original rating to date, down -7% week over week and -28% from its season average with first-run episodes (1.8/5).  After a repeat Law & Order: SVU (1.5/4) at 9p, an original SVU (3.3/9) was up +18% at 10p.

On the CW, the premiere of half-hour reality series Fly Girls delivered a 0.5/1 among Adults 18-49.
