Iconic Carmel AM on the block

KRML-AM is one of the lonely few AM radio stations to make a living playing Jazz and Blues. It is also one of the few radio stations to have a starring role in a major motion picture on its resume. But it’s no longer making ends meet and is up for sale.

Monterey County Bank broker Ray H. Rosenblum to market the station. The asking price is $350K, and according to Rosenblum, the Bank will consider making seller paper part of the compensation package. The station’s record collection and an associated music store are also available separately.

KRML serves the Monterey-Salina market from Carmel CA. It’s a Class D on 1410 kHz, with 500 w-D and 16 w-N.

Its claim to fame is its appearance in Clint Eastwood vehicle “Play Misty for Me.” A photo of Eastwood in the station is available here: www.krmlradio.com/
