Ingstad Children Take Possession Of ‘Family Radio’

In mid-October, the FCC granted approval of the sale of a presently-silent AM in South Dakota to one member of the Ingstad family.

Now, the station is shifting to a newly formed entity led by three of the children of the late Janice Ingstad. It’s the lone deal in our Veterans Day edition of TRANSACTIONS TODAY.

The station that is trading hands is KKAA-AM 1560 in Aberdeen, S. Dakota, and it’s presently dark.

Until August 2, KKAA was owned by Family Stations. On that date, TRANSACTIONS TODAY reported the station’s sale — along with KQKD-AM in Redfield, S.D., to KKAA LLC. Representing the seller as the exclusive broker in this $85,000 transaction is Beth Griffin of Griffin Media Brokers.

The FCC granted its approval to the transaction on Oct. 17.

Now, KKAA LLC — led by sole member Robert J. Ingstad — is transferring KKAA to i3G LLC for $60,000.

There’s no written agreement for the deal, and that’s because Ingstad is a one-third owner of 13G, with equal partnership shared with siblings Tallie Colville and Todd Ingstad.

KKAA is licensed for 10kw from three towers during daylight hours and six towers after dark.

KKAA joins KBMW-AM 1450 & FM 92.7 in Breckenridge, Minn., under the i3G banner. In early October, i3G acquired KBMW-AM & FM for $925,000 from Radio Wahpeton Breckenridge LLC.

FCC Form 314 filings have erroneously referred to i3G as “13G.” Meanwhile, related entity i3G Radio LLC is the licensee of KQLX-AM & FM in Lisbon, N. Dakota.
