FEATURESCCME’s Q104.3, New York’s Classic Rock, announced Jim Kerr is celebrating 40 years of being on-air in New York City.  Kerr has entertained and informed New York morning radio listeners for decades and his show, The Jim Kerr Rock & Roll Morning Show, is currently heard weekdays from 5-9:00 a.m.

At age 21 Kerr began his radio career as the morning show host at WPLJ in New York, a position he held for 15 years. His radio legacy continued over the years as he successfully hosted New York City morning shows at WPIX, WYNY, WXMV, WQCD and Y107.

Kerr has interviewed the biggest names in rock music including Robert Plant, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Brian May, Mick Jagger and countless more.  He recently hosted the live nationwide iHeartRadio broadcast of “12-12-12” the fundraising concert to aid the victims of Hurricane Sandy.  Kerr has also recently hosted iHeartRadio Album Release Parties for Paul McCartney and Bruce Springsteen.

Beyond his work on-air, Kerr is a member of the Board of Directors of the AFTRA Foundation and in 2013 was elected Vice President of the New York Local of Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.  He has been an active member of the community, serving on the Board of Directors for Heartshare Human Services, one of New York’s largest social service agencies, and he is a seven-time host of the St. Jude Children’s Hospital Radiothon. In addition, the Mayor of New York City and Governors of both New York and New Jersey have honored him for raising millions of dollars for civic and charitable groups.

“Jim Kerr is a New York City and nationwide rock radio legend,” said Eric Wellman, PD, Q104.3  “30 years ago his show was a top 10 morning show in the country and today he’s still in the top 10.”

  1. You left out WOR
Jim has gone through more changes than a drag queen
It’s not how many stations you have worked, but how many management changes,
No one ever asks a stand up comic or entertainer how many clubs did you work at,
It’s not how many films brad Pitt made, but how the box office did and how was the acting.
Jim has Been a best supporting actor for a number of roles and a star in his own right,
Did the stations ever give you profit sharing?
Jim is a regular guy and we love him for it.
My brother in law has 40 years at Sears in Buffalo and misses the profit sharing but the roof is new and so is the washer and dryer.
The boys in Detroit are proud of you…..

  2. Jim Kerr is a great brand. Whether you are discussing the broadcaster side or the personal side, you are always interacting with a class act. I consider Jim a dear friend and colleague and remember the great times we had over the years in this great City. To another 40 years Jim. You are the best. JT
