Journal directs its attention away from direct marketing

Multimedia mass communicator Journal Communications has cut a pair of deals that are sending its direct marketing operation PrimeNet to new owners. One of the buyers, Mark Keefe, should be very familiar with the company – he is already its president. He’s forming his own company, PrimeNet Direct Marketing Solutions, LLC – under which to own and operate the former Journal business.

Keefe is getting the Clearwater FL-based portion of the business. PrimeNet’s mailing services in St. Paul MN were sold earlier to Impact Proven Solutions.

“We are excited to make this transaction happen with the existing PrimeNet team led by Mark Keefe. As Journal Communications focuses on our core local market media businesses, we are confident this business and its employees will continue to successfully execute their strategy,” said Journal Chairman/CEO Steven J. Smith. “We appreciate the hard work and dedication of everyone at PrimeNet and are confident the team will continue their focus on excellent customer service.”

Terms were not released for either transaction.

Journal is based in Milwaukee and has significant properties in the television, radio and newspaper fields.
