Red Rock Radio Corp. has completed its sale of eight stations in Minnesota to R & J Broadcasting for an undisclosed price.
The transaction, for which Kalil & Co. served as the exclusive broker, was consummated in mid-September.
With this deal, R&J picks up the following stations:
- KGHS-AM & KSDM-FM in International Falls. KGHS-AM is a Class C with 1 tower broadcasting with 460 watts day and 230 watts at night. KSDM-FM is a Class C3 with 8,500 watts.
- Serving Brainerd, Minn., are KKIN-AM & FM in Aitkin; WWWI-AM in Baxter; KFGI-FM in Crosby; KLKS-FM in Pequot Lakes; and WWWI-FM in Pillager, Minn. KKIN-AM is a Class B with 2 tower broadcasting with 2.5kw day and 360 watts at night, while KKIN-FM is a Class C3 with 14kw. WWWI-AM is a directional Class B with 3 nighttime towers and 1 daytime tower, operating with 5kw. KFGI-FM is a Class C3 with 25kw. KLKS-FM is a Class A with 5,200 watts, located just to the north of Brainerd. WWWI-FM is a Class A with 6kw.
Red Rock is a Minnesota-based company headed by Kathy Lau and Shawn Skramstad that is in the process of divesting most of its radio stations.
R & J Broadcasting is also a Minnesota-based company, and is headed by Jim Birkemeyer. R & J owns five other stations in Minnesota.
